About The Wonky Bobbin

I run The Wonky Bobbin from my home studio in Repton, where I teach relaxed, friendly sewing lessons and creative workshops for ages 8+.

Before this, I was a primary teacher for over 20 years. These days I’ve swapped the classroom for a sewing room, which feels like a pretty lovely trade — I still get to teach, just with a lot more fabric involved.

I’ve been sewing for years and really enjoy helping people build confidence and pick up new skills, whether it’s your first time using a machine or you’ve sewn a bit before and want to try something new. There’s no pressure here — just a chance to learn at your own pace and enjoy it.

Life outside the sewing room is usually busy with my two daughters, Olive and Ivy, and my husband Kev, so I know how valuable it is to have a bit of time to switch off and do something creative.

More recently, I’ve started working with other local crafters to run small, relaxed workshops, often with catering from Crafted the Bakery. It’s been a really nice way to bring people together and support other local businesses at the same time.

More than anything, I want it to feel like a calm, welcoming space where you can switch off for a bit and make something you’re proud of.
